MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck servicesThe MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck services are structured pharmacy services, which involve one-on-one consultation between the pharmacist and the patient in the pharmacy to discuss all their medicines.

At Watson Pharmacy, our aim is to facilitate discussion with the consumer, focusing on improving medicine use through education, self-management and medication adherence strategies.

How MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck Services Work

During MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck services, our pharmacist reviews and discusses the best ways to manage your medicines.

Our pharmacists gathers the following relevant information from the consumer or consumer’s carer:

  • A complete and verified list of consumer’s prescription, non-prescription and complementary medicine; &
  • Information on any allergies or chronic conditions the consumer may have.

Then the pharmacist reviews and discusses the use of all medicines and monitoring devices with the consumer which includes:

  • Assessing medication adherence;
  • Giving the consumer a better understanding of their medication;
  • Providing guidance on correct use of medication and monitoring devices;
  • Attempting to resolve any medication-related issues that have been identified from the information provided; &
  • Providing the consumer with a written action plan which includes consumer goals and any other follow up actions such as meeting with the GP or any other health provider.

Do MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck Services Cost Anything?

These services are funded by the Australian Government and there is no cost to the consumer to receive either a MedsCheck or Diabetes MedsCheck service.
